About

This website was created to help solicit donations to food pantries in St. Johns County.

It is dedicated to the memory of Noel Helmly.

“Those who worked with the former St. Augustine Mayor Noel Helmly over the years remember him as a public servant who worked with young commissioners and always had the city’s best interests at heart. He served on the St. Augustine City Commission over two periods. His first years there were between 1978 and 1981. He came back nine years later and served again between 1990 and 1996. Helmly’s family owned the Firestone location on San Marco Avenue.

After the years with the Firestone location, Helmly went to work at Bozard Ford as comptroller. He retired from there in 2006. After retirement, he kept busy as a volunteer at Flagler Hospital and worked with the St. Johns Ecumenical Ministry Food Pantry, where he served as treasurer and his wife Marilyn served on the board. Noel was fondly remembered as ‘one who got it right’.
